Innovative Resources
New Parkinson’s Clinic
The Outpatient Therapy Services Department established a new service for Parkinson’s
patients and their families. “Our goal is to identify ways to limit the impact of Parkinson’s
through therapy,” says Angela Mohondro, director, Kadlec Allied Health. “We teach
strategies that help patients maintain strength and coordination and stay independent
for as long as possible.”More information is available by calling (509) 942-2660.
Healthy Ages
Kadlec Healthy Ages is a free membership program designed to address the needs of
people age 50 and over. Specially-trained program coordinators help older adults
identify the right community services and resources, assist in filing and tracking
insurance and Medicare supplement claims, and act as an intermediary between
patients and healthcare professionals. And each month Kadlec presents free public
programs on timely healthcare topics. For more information or to register, call
(509) 942-2700.
“Thank you for an
outstanding medical
experience. The human,
personal experience was
even better.”

KADLEC’S EXPANDING REACH
At Kadlec Regional Medical Center the team has always cared for the most fragile
patients. Now, with the addition of a skilled nursing liaison at Avalon Healthcare and
Rehabilitation in Pasco, we’ve taken our commitment to caring for frail seniors to a
whole new level.
In December, 2012, Kadlec Clinic geriatric nurse practitioner Kathryn Harden became
the first provider to be permanently located in a skilled nursing facility. Harden spends
time in the facility each week assessing the health needs of residents and collaborating
with nursing staff, care providers and families, when appropriate, to address health,
well-being and quality of life issues for residents.
Providing this service allows Harden to address changes in residents’ condition right
away, providing rapid care to improve outcomes. With her on-site schedule, she is able
to consistently follow each patient’s status to best manage their care. When Harden is
not in the facility, staff and residents have access to the providers at Kadlec’s Senior
Clinic which means the Avalon team has a direct link to care for their residents, no
matter the time of day.
CANCER CARE AT ITS BEST
The comprehensive cancer program at Kadlec Regional Medical Center is nationally
recognized. Kadlec’s program earned accreditation with commendation from the
Commission on Cancer. The accreditation means Kadlec meets rigorous standards
for cancer care.
