Keeping this region healthy involves more than healing the sick. It’s all about creating a
better life for everyone Kadlec serves, even if they never are patients. Through Kadlec’s
sponsorship of important programs, financial support of community projects, and
commitment to providing care for people unable to pay, Kadlec helps ensure a
healthier future for everyone.
Vroom & Zoom
The Foundation’s second annual “Kidz Dig Rigz” extravaganza drew 4,500 children and
adults to Columbia Park in Kennewick on May 19, up 30% over the year before. They got
up close and personal with 100+ hot race cars, enormous tractors and other farm
equipment, shiny fire trucks, military vehicles and tons of other big rigs.
The event’s first hour was designated a quiet time for scores of children with special
needs, accompanied by their parents. Because special-needs kids can react poorly to
overstimulation, no engines revved or sirens wailed.
Local retailer Ranch & Home sponsored a wildly popular monster truck that gave kids
rides all day. Another big hit was the 27-foot Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. Visitors took
many photos of the famous sausage express and visited with the Hotdoggers who
drive it.
Spearheaded by Kadlec Foundation Board Member Lori Lott, many people volunteered
to help her team that day.
“Thanks to generous support from exhibitors and sponsors, everyone had a fun, family
day in the park,” says Lott. “We made a lot of people, young and old, very happy.”
